Project Overview
This project is an 8MW coal mine gas power generation project located in Shanxi, China. The plant utilizes high-concentration coal mine gas as fuel and converts it into stable electricity for the mining area.
The power plant is equipped with two 4MW MWM gas generator sets, supported by gas pretreatment, intelligent control, grid-connected operation and waste heat recovery systems. The solution helps turn coal mine gas from a safety risk into a valuable clean energy resource.
As an EPC power project, the scope covers engineering design, equipment supply, installation, commissioning and trial operation. By integrating MWM gas engine technology with SWT’s power system engineering capability, the project delivers reliable power generation, improved energy efficiency and reduced methane emissions.
SWT Solution
SWT provided an integrated gas power generation solution based on MWM TCG2032V16 gas generator sets. The solution is designed for coal mine gas application and grid-connected operation, with supporting systems for gas pretreatment, automatic control, power management and waste heat recovery.
The MWM gas engine platform was selected for its proven performance in gas power applications, strong fuel adaptability and reliable operation with coal mine gas / coalbed methane. The integrated control system supports automatic start/stop, power regulation, safety monitoring, communication and remote operation management.

Key Features
MWM Gas Engine Technology
The project uses MWM TCG2032V16 gas generator sets, a mature gas engine platform suitable for coal mine gas and other gas fuel applications. The configuration supports stable power generation, high availability and efficient operation.
8MW Integrated Power Solution
The plant is configured with 2 × 4MW gas generator sets, providing a total installed capacity of 8MW. This two-unit configuration improves operation flexibility and supports reliable power output.
TEM Evolution Intelligent Control System
The MWM generator sets are equipped with TEM Evolution control system, supporting engine management, power regulation, safety monitoring, emission control and remote operation functions.
Coal Mine Gas Utilization
The system converts extracted coal mine gas into electricity, helping reduce methane emissions and improving mine safety.
Waste Heat Recovery
The project includes waste heat recovery, allowing engine heat to be reused for thermal applications and improving overall energy efficiency.
